Upon her return from exile in 1797, Mrs. de Mazenod came to live with her mother at the Joannis house. Eugene also came to live with her as well from 1802 to 1808 and from 1812 to 1816. It was there as well, from 1813 to 1848, that Eugénie and Armand Boisgelin lived with their children.

It was a large house. Eugene wrote to his father on March 1, 1815: “As you know, we are living in the house on Papassaudi street. Well! In addition to my mother and myself, it harbours as well my sister, my brother-in-law, two grand daughters, women servants, men servants, etc.”

After his departure for Marseilles in 1823, the Founder came quite often to visit his mother on Papassaudi street, where, it seems, she died on December 17, 1851.
