Pierre Clausset was born at Metz on March 21, 1826. He entered the novitiate at Notre-Dame de l’Osier on October 12, 1847; he made his oblation on October 15, 1848. On October 2, the General Council admitted him to vows with the following comments: “This is a candidate who is endowed with good qualities and who conducted himself well during his novitiate; his defects are not very noticeable. The most serious difficulty with regard to his definitive admission would come from his sickliness, but a few weeks ago, he has just been cured, as if by a miracle …”

Scholastic brother Clausset studied theology at the major seminary of Marseilles and was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop de Mazenod on June 29, 1851. During the summer of 1851, he withdrew to his family home for some rest. He then spent a few months at Le Calvaire, then lived at the shrine of Notre-Dame de Bon Secours with Father Bargy from January to September of 1852. Father Martin, his superior, then wrote that Father Clausset’s health was worsening, he was very nervous with respiratory difficulties and a high temperature. At the end of September, he was sent to Notre-Dame de l’Osier where he died on December 17, 1852.
