I was an "international scholastic" in Rome between 1997 and 2000. I have experienced how much care and dedication is needed to keep the 290 Via Aurelia going. I am also aware how much financial help my own province has received from other Oblate provinces. Money is an important issue, no doubt. We need to be realistic. But at the same time I am aware that there is much more at stake than money in our Congregation. We should not think of ourselves as an international business corporation. There is also an Oblate Tradition, a Spirituality, a History which is not irrelevant. To sell the General House in my opinion would be an act of disbelief. Let’s make an effort of faith that our Congregation has a Future, that our missions have a Future. Let’s start again from our own love for the Eucharist, love for the Prayer, love for the Ministry, love for the Church, love for the People… Maybe we will find means to save the General House, which symbolizes so much to so many of us…
Best greetings!
