After a journey of preparations, on May 3, six scholastics from the International scholasticate and one from the Italian scholasticate were ordained to the diaconate: Jean Luc Bourdeau (Haiti), John Thomas David (India), Auguste-Noël Kajingulu (D. R. of Congo) , William Makhebesela (Lesotho) , Patrick Maboee Matsau (Lesotho) , Norbert Johannes Wilczek (Germany)and Franceso Lugarà  (Italy).

The celebration was held at the local Diocesan Parish of Pio V, few blocks away from the General house. The event was graced by the presence of the candidates' families, friends and acquaintances who joined the Oblate community in this grace-filled event. The ordaining bishop was Msgr. Michele di Ruberto, Secretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

After the liturgical celebration, a thanksgiving and reception followed at the scholasticate compound. The gift of these deacons is a cause for celebration for the whole oblate world and the whole church. At the end of this academic year, these deacons from the international scholasticate will be going back to their respective oblate units. To our new deacons, we join you in our prayers for this ministry of service!

New Scholastics

New Scholastics (Andreas and Nathaniel)

The international scholasticate has been a house for many of our oblates from different units around the world. It has been a witness to the coming and going of scholastics. The newly-ordained deacons will soon be coming back to their respective units. On the other side, new scholastics are coming.

Last month we welcomed three new members of the community. On May 1, two new scholastics from Lesotho arrived. Nathanael Posholi Kebitsamang and Sekake Andreas Thamae did their novitiate in 2003 and took their first vows on 2005. Before coming to Rome they finished their philosophical courses while at the scholasicate in Roma, Lesotho. The two are now having their Italian language course. To Nathanael and Andreas, welcome to the scholasticate community!
