The Catholic Bishops Conference in Sri Lanka has appointed Fr. Lal PUSHPADEWA as the National Director Social Communications. He is the youngest and the first religious priest to be appointed to this position.
Fr. Lal’s interest in the arts was already instilled in him long before his seminary days and after joining the Oblates, he received the much needed freedom and encouragement to follow his passion. When Pope Francis made a historic visit to Sri Lanka in January 2015, Fr. Lal was given a major task in the area of media coverage of the event. The way he organized it was very much appreciated by all quarters. During the Year of Consecrated Life Fr. Lal also produced a documentary film called “Immortal Souls” which speaks about the life and ministry of men and women religious congregations in the country.
As a part of his new responsibility Fr. Lal will act as the President of SIGNIS – Sri Lanka as well. Oblate Communications wishes him all the very best for his new ministry. (Shanil JAYAWARDENA)
