Mediterranean – Spain

To speak of youth, vocational and family ministry in the recent history of the Oblates in Spain is to talk about Life Groups and Communities.

Without exaggeration, thousands of young people (in the past) have been part of these Groups and Communities, especially in Madrid, in the parish of San Leandro, where they began in the 70’s, but also in Pozuelo, Oviedo, Jaén and Málaga. They also got to the United States.

On June 2 and 3, a meaningful reunion of those who, at some point in their lives, were part of these groups took place in Pozuelo de Alarcón.

It was a time, in the words of Fr. Alfredo FERNÁNDEZ (founder of these groups) to come together again after so many years and to thank God for all that was good and holy.

Thus, the weekend was spent with images and testimonies that called to mind the past and offered a challenge for living in the present. There was a gathering in a large room to listen to each other; there were smaller groups for sharing something more intimate; moments of prayer and celebration of the Eucharist … and many conversations in the corridors and at table.

In short, it was a reunion of people with a lifestyle that has always sought to put Jesus Christ at the center and to find the way, in the life of each one, of being apostles of the Lord. (http://nosotrosomi.blogspot.com)
