BELARUS

A new parish is being established in Minsk, Belarus, led by the Missionaries Oblates of Mary Immaculate. On Saturday, October 26, 2019, the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Minsk and Mogilev – Bishop Jerzy Kosobucki – dedicated the cross and the land on which the parish church is to be built. The oblates and faithful were waiting for that moment for 12 years. The parish is dedicated to Saints Apostles Peter & Paul and Saint Eugene de Mazenod. The ceremony was attended by can. Władysław Zawalniuk – dean of deanery, Fr. Piotr BIELEWICZ – pastor of the new parish, Fr. Paweł LEMEKH, seminarians with the spiritual Father of the local major seminary and numerous faithful.

Bishop Jerzy, referring to the difficulties that the parish encountered in building the church, pointed out that God’s Providence should be trusted. While addressing the faithful, he recalled the importance of the sign of the cross in the life of a Christian, as well as in the heart of the parish community. He also encouraged those gathered to build the Church as a “community of believers”.
