OMIWORLD

With joy, we share with the entire Oblate family that the Superior General of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, with the consent of the Council, has appointed our brother, Fr. Cleber Willian LOPES POMBAL, as Postulator General for a first term of three years.

Fr. Cleber, born on March 22, 1975, made his first vows on January 14, 2005, in Paraguay and was ordained a priest on June 26, 2010, in São Paulo, Brazil. His formation journey included the novitiate in Paraguay and post-novitiate studies in Bolivia (BOLPER).

Following his ordination, Fr. Cleber has served in various pastoral and formation roles:

  • 2009–2014: Vicar Assistant and Vocational Promoter in the Amazon Region (Manaus)
  • 2014–2016: Pre-novitiate Director in Belém do Pará
  • 2017–2020: Novice Master
  • 2020–2022: Graduate studies in Spirituality and Oblate Studies at the Oblate School of Theology, San Antonio, Texas
  • 2022–2024: Vicar Assistant at Cristo Redentor Parish, Recife, Brazil

Fr. Cleber holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the Catholic University of São Paulo and a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from the Catholic University of Bolivia. He also has a postgraduate degree in Family Relations with a systemic approach and earned a Master of Arts in Spirituality and Oblate Studies from the Oblate School of Theology.

The work of the Postulator General demands a balance of rigor, spiritual depth, and pastoral sensitivity. These are precisely the qualities that Fr. Cleber has consistently demonstrated throughout his ministry. His task will be to represent the Congregation before the Holy See, investigating and promoting the causes for beatification and canonization.

Fr. Cleber succeeds Fr. Diego SÁEZ in the role, and we extend our most sincere gratitude to Fr. Diego for his years of meticulous and passionate service. His work has been a true gift to the Congregation and the Church.

We accompany Fr. Cleber with our prayers as he begins this new service, wishing him the greatest success in the mission the Congregation has entrusted to him.
