Raphaël Reynaud was born at Espinchal, diocese of Clermont, January 1, 1818. He entered the novitiate of Notre-Dame de l’Osier on September 7, 1846 and made his first vows on September 8, 1847. On December 15, 1847, he was admitted to perpetual vows by the Council General, but the date of his perpetual oblation is nowhere to be found. Initially, he resided at Notre-Dame de l’Osier. In July of 1848, Father Vincens wrote to Father Burfin at Limoges that Brother Reynaud was at his disposal, but instead the brother worked for a few years at the major seminary of Marseilles, then at the church school of Vico from 1855 to 1864 and finally from 1864 to his death at the scholasticate of Autun in charge of the linens and the clothing. He died on December 20, 1870 while the scholasticate was being occupied by Garibalderians during the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-1871.
