Félix Ronze was born on September 8, 1828 in Puy-en-Velay. He began his novitiate at Notre-Dame de l’Osier on October 4, 1850 and made his oblation there on October 5, 1851. During the course of his studies at the scholasticate, the decision was made to dispense him from his vows. In the report of the November 22, 1852 session of the General Council, the secretary general wrote: Brother Ronze “wasted no time in showing that we had judged him too favourably. The director of the Oblates at the major seminary, after more than sufficient proof, declared that he did not believe him fit to be admitted to holy orders.” They had sent him to Aix, suggesting that he should become a coadjutor brother, but Father Courtès advised sending him back home.
