Bruno Séjalon was born at Pradelles in the diocese of Puy, November 5, 1801. He was ordained to the priesthood about 1826 and exercised his priestly ministry in the diocese of Valence for five years, then, in the diocese of Viviers for nineteen years. He entered the novitiate of Notre-Dame de l’Osier on October 14, 1850 and made his oblation there on October 15, 1851. He was admitted to vows in the General Council session of October 5, 1851 on the recommendation of Father Richard, master of novices, who wrote: “He is humble, simple in manner, has a deep love of his vocation and [is] capable of doing good.”

He was immediately sent to Notre-Dame de Bon Secours where, in 1851-1852, he shared preaching a mission with Father Martin. Father Martin, for his part, admitted the he would sooner not have had him along. His “kind [of preaching] is not very appealing, but he is a virtuous person.” During the summer of 1851, Father Séjalon went to attend the preaching lectures of Father Vincens in the “advanced courses” at Marseilles, then, received his obedience for Notre-Dame de Talence. Father Dassy, the superior, makes no judgment about him as a preacher, but states that in community life, Father Séjalon is stubborn, too much in a rush, lacking in discipline; he is doing harm to Father Depetro. In 1855, Bishop de Mazenod was thinking of sending him to do ministry in the prisons at Nancy, but gave up on this idea because, as he wrote to Father Vincens on May 20: “but this Father will not get along with a given Superior who may be appointed over him.” (Oblate Writings I, vol. 11, no. 1271, p. 269)

Father Séjalon then lived in Notre-Dame de Cléry from 1855 to 1859, then at Notre-Dame de Sion in 1859-1860. He worked as a mission preacher and occasionally replaced parish priests. In September of 1859, he wrote Father Vincens to complain about the poverty of the community. He probably left the Congregation in 1860. From that time on, his name did not appear in Oblate sources.
