On September 1st, the 25 Oblates of Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence in Tewksbury MA USA began the Season of Creation with a Mass for Peace and Justice celebrated by Fr. Dan NASSANEY.

The Eucharist highlighted the theme of this year’s Laudato Si’ Season of Creation: “Let Justice and Peace Flow!”

The August 15th letter of the Superior General, which was printed out for the entire IHM community by Fr. Charlie BEAUSOLEIL, inspired Dan’s homily at the Eucharist.  Dan spoke of the need for us to be instruments of peace in the deepest sense of that word, which is fullness of life for all of God’s creatures. He called us to commit ourselves to care for our common home at the personal and communal level.

Dan also showed how the values of our consecration, namely, living community and each of the vows, are intimately connected to the love and respect for creation, both in caring for the poor and for our common home.

As part of this commitment to care for our common home, the IHM community has a garden under the attention of Bro. Charlie GILBERT and Bro. Emmanuel MELONCOURT which provides vegetables for the meals.  The Season of Creation will unfold with other reflections and initiatives in response to Father Chicho Rois’ important letter to the Congregation.
