The missionary oraison is the common prayer of the Oblate family, in which all its members meet and connect. For our founder, St. Eugene de Mazenod, it was a privileged channel to remain in living communion with his Oblates scattered in mission stations around the world.

The missionary oraison of the Oblate Family is a prayer project of the Lay Associates and Oblates of the Central European Province. It is one of the responses to the request of the Lay Associates made at the Chapter, as it offers the possibility of international prayer networking and relationship building among Lay Associates across continents.

We pray the oraison every third Sunday of the month.

The structure of the prayer is simple:

• the Sunday Gospel,
• a short reflection by one of us, called ‘Evangelium Live’, on how God’s Word is lived out in my life,
• and a passage from the texts of St. Eugene.

Evangelium live represents the personal experience of a particular person with a given Sunday’s Gospel. It is not about writing a long preaching or theological analysis, but about how we experience God’s Word in our daily lives. Sharing such an experience should encourage, connect and bring closer the Oblate charism.
