OMIWORLD

From April 6-10, 2024, a small delegation of teachers from Mazenod College WA and Iona College had the privilege of visiting the Bangladesh Delegation.

The visiting group consisted of Damian Wallis, Kate Anne, and Suzanne Michelle, accompanied by Fr. Joe ANTONY, OMI, an Indian Oblate who has been instrumental in establishing the West Bengal Mission in Australia.

The primary objective of their visit was to immerse themselves in the work of the Oblates and to develop plans for student immersion programs scheduled for 2025 in Bangladesh. While Australian student immersion programs are already established in Sri Lanka, India, and China, the inclusion of the Bangladesh Delegation was initiated by Fr. Christian FINI, OMI, during his visit in 2023.

During their time in Bangladesh, the visitors visited various sites, including the Delegation House in Dhaka, St. Eugene’s School in Baridhara, St. Eugene’s Mission School in Khadim, Lokhipur School, Borlekha Parish, and the Oblate Juniorate. Additionally, they had the opportunity to reconnect with Fr. Dominic ROZARIO, OMI, who had previously served in Melbourne from 2017 to 2020.
