As Lent begins this week, we enter a sacred period of spiritual renewal. Through prayer, fasting, and acts of charity, we ready ourselves for the Easter celebration.
On Ash Wednesday, the imposition of ash upon our foreheads is a stark reminder of our need for penance. Our acts of penance are not for God’s benefit but for our own growth and transformation. The 40-day Lenten journey represents a spiritual pilgrimage into the wilderness of our souls, where we confront our moments of weakness and temptation. In this wilderness, we undergo purification and seek deeper encounters with ourselves and God.
As pilgrims of hope, we acknowledge the profound dynamics of this Holy Season.
The members of the Central Government have begun leaving Rome to visit the different units of the congregation. This Lent, they will journey from place to place, encountering their brother Oblates and the many people they serve. We remain united by the common journey we make.
May God walk with us as we enter into this Season of Spiritual Renewal.
With heavy hearts, we honor and celebrate the lives of the following departed Oblates:
– Fr. Lucien Vivant, OMI from the Province of FRANCE who died on February 12, 2024, in Nantes, (France) at the age of 89 and 67 years of oblation.
– Bro. Étienne Aumond, OMI from the Province of Notre-Dame-du-Cap who died on February 11, 2024 in Richelieu (Canada) at the age of 89 and 52 years of oblation.
May their souls find eternal peace, and may their lives and devotion to service continue to inspire us all.
